"So lately I've been talking to a friend about a new job offer she was considering. She told me all the internal drama beforehand, and I was genuinely shocked when I found out the CEO of that company had an affair with another worker there. It was a whole messy situation.

She talked about it relentlessly, and I listened, getting the full, detailed history of the company's culture.

The irony is that while I was listening to all this gossip, I realized my own CV and working path were perfect for an opening they had. It's a huge company in the city, and they pay really well—the kind of job that could be a major step up for me.

I applied, went through the process, and felt incredibly hopeful.

At the end, I didn't get the job. The real gut punch came when I heard the reason: they allegedly hired exclusively male workers for that round of recruitment (they ofc didn't tell that to the public) because of the recent scandal. The company, facing public backlash after the news was printed in the local newspaper, seemed to be trying to control their image and minimize future liability by avoiding female hires.

I'm still shocked and honestly so disappointed. To be technically qualified, to want the job that badly, and to know that a corporate scandal had nothing to do with my abilities ultimately cost me that position... it just feels incredibly unfair. That high salary makes the disappointment even sharper."
